Tesla Model 3 Mattress Comparison: What Actually Matters When You Buy

If you are shopping for a mattress for your Tesla Model 3, you will quickly run into several names — Tescamp, Tesmat, and us, EV-MATS. We get asked regularly what actually separates them. So here is a factual comparison, written the way we would want to read one ourselves.

Up front, so it is transparent: we make mattresses for Teslas, and we ship within Europe. This is not a neutral review. What you get instead is verifiable facts and an honest read on who each option suits — including the cases where that is not us.

The dimensions: practically identical

Let us start with the thing most comparison pages make more dramatic than it is.

The common Model 3 mattresses all sit in the same range: roughly 191–192 cm long, about 105 cm wide, 6.5–7 cm thick. That is not a coincidence — the sleeping area in a Model 3 simply dictates those numbers. Anyone claiming their mattress fits "significantly better" should be able to show you figures.

Our EV-MATS mattress measures 191 x 105 x 7 cm. If you read 192 x 105 x 6.6 cm elsewhere, we are talking about a difference you will not feel at night.

What you will feel: whether the mattress follows the contour of the interior or is a plain rectangle. Gaps along the sides mean draughts and a leg sliding into empty space. Ask whichever supplier you choose about the shape, not just the dimensions.

Material: what to actually look at

Memory foam is standard with every serious supplier. The questions that matter are:

  • Density. Higher density (40D or more) means the mattress will not bottom out when you lie on your side. On thin car mattresses this is the most common weak point.
  • Cover. Removable and washable? After a few nights in a car this is not a side issue. Ours has a black velvet cover with a zip and Velcro that goes in the machine at 30 °C.
  • Reinforcement. We use hard reinforcements in the upper third so the sleeping surface is wider and more even where the rear seats do not finish quite flat.

Packed size: the number that decides whether you keep using it

A mattress that blocks half your boot will not get used after the second trip. Ours folds in a 3x3 pattern down to 66 x 39 x 26 cm and fits the included carrying case — which in turn fits the frunk, leaving the boot free.

When comparing, look at the packed dimensions, not just whether something is described as "foldable".

The difference nobody talks about: where it ships from

This is the practical difference that decides most purchases, and it has nothing to do with the mattress itself.

Several well-known suppliers in this market are based in the United States and sell primarily through American platforms. If you are buying from Europe, that can mean import duties and taxes that were not visible in the listed price, longer delivery times, and a return that has to travel back across the Atlantic.

None of that makes those products worse. It is worth knowing before you buy, not after.

Then do not buy anything yet. Try one night with whatever you already own — a sleeping mat, a thin spare mattress. You will find out quickly what bothers you: usually the hard, uneven surface, and the condensation on the glass roof in the morning.
